Eastern Maine Medical Center Sports Health Offers Summer Performance Camp

ThinkstockPhotos-489116316.jpg(Bangor, Maine) – Staying active and conditioned during the summer is important for young athletes. EMMC Sports Health’s Summer Sports Performance Camp is designed to help middle school and high school athletes increase their overall fitness, improve their strength, conditioning, power, speed, agility, and, most importantly, decrease the risk of future injury.
Each session begins with a dynamic warm-up program which includes exercises to prevent and decrease one of the most common knee injuries, tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

The warm up is followed by core strength improvement exercises and a specific workout rounds out each day (speed, agility, quickness, power, etc.). Workouts are designed to utilize full range of motion, incorporate multiplane strengthening exercises that specifically train the body for sports preparedness, and improve overall fitness. Camp wraps up each day with games, a cool down, and stretching.
EMMC Sports Health’s Summer Sports Performance Camp will be held at Cameron Stadium in Bangor every Tuesday and Thursday from July 10-August 9. The high school session is from 8- 9:30 am and the middle school session is from 10-11 am.

The registration fee is $80 to attend all sessions and drop-in fees are $10 per session. To register, visit sports.emmc.org or email sports@emhs.org.
