We are fortunate in the greater Bangor area to have so many choices when we need urgent and timely medical care. At EMMC, we understand that having so many choices can be a little confusing and a little overwhelming. At those most vulnerable moments, you might ask, “How urgent is the need? What should I do? Where should I go?”

It’s always best, when possible, to schedule an appointment with your primary care provider, but we realize there are times when you or your loved ones may need more urgent and timely care. Understanding the importance of receiving the right care at the right place will save you time and money.
 
EMMC’s Emergency Department is the best place to go in life threatening situations, like chest pain, symptoms of stroke, extreme illness, or trauma. Located on EMMC’s main campus at 489 State Street in Bangor, the Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

There are other times, however, when you still need to be seen quickly for healthcare but you recognize that you don’t need the Emergency Department. 

EMMC’s Walk-In Care, which is located at the EMMC Healthcare Mall on Union Street in Bangor,  provides a full complement of services for urgent and non-urgent medical needs, including lab and imaging facilities for diagnostic testing.
