Why Choose the Joint Replacement Program at Eastern Maine Medical Center?

Our goal is to help you get back to your normal activities as soon as possible. The Joint Replacement Program is part of and reflects the excellence of care provided at EMMC. Your joint replacement team is supported by highly skilled professionals, who are available 24 hours a day to meet all of your needs. When you choose EMMC, you can rest assured that you are receiving outstanding care that exceeds national quality and safety measures while remaining close to your home and family.

As part of our commitment to provide patients with the safest, highest quality of care, EMMC started the state's first comprehensive Blood Management and Conservation Program three years ago. Our Blood Management and Conservation Program screens each patient for anemia in the month prior to surgery. If a patient is diagnosed anemia, the program's nurse and medical director will work with the patient's primary care provider and surgeon to treat the anemia before and after surgery.

In addition, EMMC is one of only 25 hospitals across the United States to be recognized by Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society for it's use of technology to promote patient safety. We encourage you to be an active part of our safety program by asking one question to everyone who enters your room, “Did you wash or sanitize your hands?”

It is important to talk to your primary care provider if you are considering joint replacement. We're here to answer any questions you may have. Please call 973-8278 for more information on how EMMC's Joint Replacement Center can help you get back on your feet one step at a time.
