We Need a Little ChristmasOne of the greatest joys of the Christmas season is finding the perfect gift for someone special, and watching their reaction when they receive it. When someone is in the hospital during the holiday season, though, what would normally bring them joy instead makes them feel sad.
Physical therapy assistant
Albertine Henderson had been working with a patient for several months, and Christmas was fast approaching. Because her patient was confined to the hospital, he was not able to go out and purchase a gift for his wife.
Knowing how important is was for the patient to have a gift for his wife, Albertine went out on her own after work and purchased a stocking and several small gifts for the patient to give. The patient and his wife were moved by the gesture, and he was grateful that someone had cared enough to help him make Christmas special in spite of his predicament.
Without Albertine’s commitment to delivering excellent service, this patient would not have been able to surprise his wife with a gift on Christmas. Albertine put EMMC’s Caring Behaviors to work and made sure that the patient and his wife had a special day. She made a world of difference for a patient, and also lived EMMC’s mission to care.
