"Every Family Needs a Physician"
The Family Medicine Residency Program at Eastern Maine Medical Center is committed to fulfilling the need for primary care physicians trained to practice in any setting, but especially rural communities. Our unopposed, community based program is the ideal setting for the resident who desires broad based training coupled with a focus on treating patients and their families.
The EMMC Family Medicine Residency Program is situated in beautiful Bangor, Maine and offers a well rounded education with an emphasis on preventative care in a rural setting. Our tertiary care facility expands that focus by providing resident physicians the opportunity to work with primary care and specialty physicians caring for a large patient population. Our association with the University of Maine's Athletic Department ensures residents interested in Sports Medicine are fully qualified, and the diversity of our faculty keep resident physicians up to date on all areas of Family Medicine, from obstetrics to child care, from chronic disease management to palliative care.
As a dually accredited Family Medicine Residency Program by both the American College of General Medicine (ACGM) and American Osteopathic Association (AOA), we can offer opportunities to both Allopathic and Osteopathic Physicians that they otherwise might not be exposed to. In addition to the Residency, we offer a one year post graduate Fellowship in Osteopathic Manipulation.
