Director, Outreach Services
Dr. Robert Holmberg, MD, MPH is a pediatrician practicing at EMMC in general pediatrics and pediatric infectious disease since 1977. He has developed and directed the Outreach Department since 1997 as a part-time position in addition to his ongoing clinical pediatric practice.
His activities in Outreach include:
- Development of Stat faxed (same day) Discharge Summary to patients regional PCP/ medical home;
- Transfer Stat Discharge Summary for PCPs referring inpatients to EMMC;
- Development of the 1-877-EMMC- NOW easy access referral system to the EMMC Emergency Department with Dr. Norm Dinerman;
- Continuity of Care Committee, Chair;
- Outreach Steering Committee at EMMC, Chair;
- Monthly Telemedicine Outreach Committee meetings on focused regional healthcare update “hot topics” with regional hospital physician/ nurse/ administration leader teams;
- Annual regional hospital medical staff outreach meetings;
- Focused regional healthcare systems issues meetings;
- Representation of EMH and EMMC on the Maine Center for Public Health Board;
- Outreach orientation for new EMMC specialists and ongoing quarterly Outreach Specialist Dinner meetings.
Recently the growing EMMC Telemedicine program has been administratively linked with the Outreach Department for clinical oversight. Current clinic telehealth consultation programs are being developed in Trauma/ ED, Peds ICU, Dialysis, Genetics, Thoracic surgery besides existent telehealth programs in Psychiatry, Pediatric Endocrine and Rehab.

Norman Dinerman, MD
Medical Director, Access Management System
Medical Director, Transport Medicine System
Dr. Dinerman serves as the Medical Director, Access Management System. In this position, he participates as a physician consultative resource to nursing, registration and administrative colleagues to optimize and evolve a systematized approach to the transfer of patients to Eastern Maine Medical Center. He will involve himself in multiple projects within the institution to enable and measure the timely and smooth assignment of patients to accepting physicians, and assure their transfer by the most medically appropriate transport mode. His goal is to establish a Transfer Control and Access Management Center to broker, facilitate and choreograph the transfer of these patients. In this manner, he seeks to optimally align referring providers with the human and technical resources of a tertiary care center and promote continuity, linkage, integration of care.
Dr. Dinerman serves as the Medical Director, Transport Medicine System. In this position, he will provide medical oversight and stewardship of transport medicine assets within the Eastern Maine Healthcare System, including the supporting communication network. His goal is to assure that EMHS achieves the most contemporary practice of transport medicine.

Regional Provider Relations
My primary focus is meeting with Providers and Office Staff in our outlying referral areas and obtaining feedback relative to those clinical services that are being accessed at EMMC: what’s working and opportunities for improvement. The most important care is what is being provided in your local community. But when you need to send your patient to EMMC we want to ensure that they are receiving the best care possible. Having grown up in Northern Maine I enjoy being on the road, listening to Providers and their office staff, and helping to impact the challenges you are facing in a positive manner. We appreciate and value the opportunity to care for your patients.

Lisa Miller
Bangor Area Provider Relations
As Provider Relations Representative for the Bangor Area, Lisa’s objective is to connect physicians, their staffs and members of the community with Eastern Maine Medical Center’s programs and services. She serves as a personal contact for local healthcare providers, office managers and schedulers, facilitating two-way communication between area providers and the medical center. Lisa is available to assist local practices in orienting new staff to the medical center, announcing new services and providers and hosting practice management educational sessions.

Outreach Office Coordinator
The primary focus of the Outreach Office Coordinator is to provide coordination and administrative support to Outreach Director, Director Access Management Systems, and Provider Relations Representatives. This position assists in coordination of quarterly Regional Provider Outreach Newsletters, scheduling / coordination of specialist presentation to regional hospitals requesting site visits of EMMC Specialists. Maintains up to date outreach packets customized for outreach visits and updates EMMC physician profiles on EMMC referral website and maintains outreach visit log/database.
