Dr. Dayhim has a diverse surgical background. After completing her medical school and surgical residency in the best medical school in Iran, she started an academic surgical career in the same school and gained valuable experience over years of her surgical practice. She has a passion for education, and took courses in adult learning behavior and techniques. In addition to this, her obsession with patient safety led her to assist in creating surgical skill laboratories for medical students and residents to master surgical skills before encountering real patients. Her teaching skills and passion won her "The Best Resident Teacher Award" in her second residency in New York. She feels her patients deserve to be similarly educated, as a good education about their surgery, especially when in comes to weight loss surgery, is an essential component to patients' success; she applies this principle to her office visits and support group meetings. During her career in Tehran, Dr. Dayhim developed a growing interest in body-contouring and performed numerous tummy tucks and mini tummy tucks. From 2001 to 2003 Dr. Dayhim did a clinical research fellowship in the plastic surgery department at the University of Michigan.

As a result of her efforts in achieving excellence in minimally invasive surgery, during her second residency in New York City, Dr. Dayhim was "Resident Achievement Award" from the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons. Her fellowship with such prominent bariatric surgeons such as Drs. Robert and Garth Davis (father and son from "Big Medicine") and the prominent, internationally known minimally invasive surgeon, Dr. Patrick Reardon (first lady Barbara Bush's surgeon), further complemented these efforts and achievements.
