Bangor, Maine -- EMMC is pleased to announce James Raczek, MD, FAAFP, has accepted an expanded role as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in addition to his Chief Medical Officer role, effective immediately.
Dr. Raczek has served patients at EMMC since 1988 in various roles including director of the Family Medicine Residency, chief of Family Medicine Service, president of the Medical Staff, chief medical officer and vice president. In January 2012, Dr. Raczek was promoted to the role of Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Medical Officer assuming additional responsibility for EMMC Patient Care service lines and the employed physician practices. In addition to these leadership roles, Dr. Raczek also has continued to maintain a panel of primary care patients at EMMC’s Center for Family Medicine. His active medical practice allows him to do something he loves, and keeps him current with today’s patient concerns, medical protocols, and the technology that drives so much change in healthcare.
Dr. Raczek’s new role gives him ultimate responsibility for hospital operations, including the nursing and support service divisions at EMMC, in addition to the physician practices, quality and safety performance, and coordination of transitions of care both within EMMC and to outside organizations.
“Dr. Raczek has been a great leader at Eastern Maine Medical Center for many years now, and I’m certain he’ll continue to be a strong leader and asset to EMMC in this expanded role,” says Deborah Carey Johnson, RN, EMMC president and CEO. “Meeting our mission is critical to the healthcare of this region. We need our best leaders in place to help EMMC and EMHS innovate and plan for the coming decades of healthcare transformation.”
