Lessons Learned

• Obtain detailed engineering & building costs before submission of Certificate of Need (CON)

• Complete comprehensive front-end analysis and resolution of utility tie connections to existing plant

• Develop a clear scope of work and responsibility for project team including owner, engineer, and builder

• Planning, communication, and implementation between the engineer and field technicians is vital, especially for the electrical synchronizing to the utility

• A talented mix of project team members compliment the technical requirements of this project

Eastern Maine Medical Center is sharing these lessons learned to help others in planning and successful implementation of a new Combined Heat & Power plant.  Eastern Maine Medical Center is very proud of the success of the project team involved with the CoGen project.
