No longer does every surgical patient need a lengthy hospital stay in order to get better. Many types of surgery can now be done without an overnight stay. The Outpatient Surgery Center of Eastern Maine (OSC) is located in a freestanding building beside the medical center. The entrance to OSC can be reached conveniently from the third floor of the parking garage, where there is ample parking for OSC patients. Surgeries and procedures that don't require an overnight stay in the hospital, such as biopsies, minor non-elective or elective surgeries, laproscopic, and endoscopic procedures are performed here. Outpatient, or day surgery, allows some patients to recover in the comfort and privacy of their own home.

The entrance to the OSC is conveniently accessible from the third floor of the parking garage, next to EMMC. There is plenty of well-marked free parking for OSC patients. We welcome you to take a tour of the OSC before your scheduled visit. Please call the department head nurse at 973-5918 or the clinical supervisor at 973-4508, or call 1-877-FON-EMMC, and ask for the outpatient surgery center to arrange a tour. Our business hours are 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We are closed on most holidays.
