Special time off is granted to EMMC employees for Birth Leave, Military Leave, Jury Duty Leave, and Funeral Leave. Employees must have completed their probationary period to receive these benefits.
BIRTH LEAVE: In celebration of the family unit, EMMC grants three scheduled shifts off with pay to any regular full-time or regular part-time employee who becomes a new parent, by birth or legal adoption.
JURY DUTY LEAVE: For regular full-time and regular part-time employees who are called to serve on jury duty, EMMC will make up any difference in pay between jury duty pay and regular earnings.
MILITARY LEAVE: Employees who are members of a Reserve component ordered to annual training are allowed up to two (2) weeks of excused absence per year to attend training exercises. In addition, EMMC will make up any difference in pay if military pay and allowances for that period are less than the employee's regular earnings during that two-week period. If you are a reservist called to Active Duty of 90 or more days and are assigned outside the United States, a special benefit will apply; EMMC will make up any difference between your military pay and allowance and your regular pay for a period of six months. An employee will also continue to be covered by our group life insurance plan at no cost to the employee. In addition, your dependents may elect to continue to be covered under our group health plan by paying the applicable premiums.
FUNERAL LEAVE: In the event of a death within the immediate family, regular full-time and regular part-time employees are excused from work, with pay, for up to three scheduled shifts within seven days of the death. |
